Students in the Pigman College of Engineering can earn academic credit and/or formal recognition for their co-op and internships experiences through a specific course enrollment, EGR 399 or EGR 398. Enrollment in 3 separate rotations, which includes EGR 399 at least once, earns a student a Co-op Program medallion upon graduation as recognition of their accomplishments.
EGR 399
Cooperative Engineering Education
A 1 credit hour course designed for undergraduate students who secure full-time, salaried, career-related positions under the supervision of a sponsoring employer. Enrollment in the course maintains full-time status for 1 hour of tuition cost. Enrollment required to maintain or defer scholarships and financial aid. Certain Engineering and Computer Science majors permit students to take 3 rotations of EGR 399 to complete 1 technical elective course with approval. Students in the Honors program can use this course to complete one half of their experiential requirement.
EGR 398
Experiential Education/Internship for Engineering
A course designed for undergraduate students, who secure an experiential, career-related internship, during the summer or a part-time experience during a semester when taking a full load of classes. Students would take this course, primarily for zero credit hours, for the recognition on the transcript of an experience or, if in the Honors program, to complete one half of the Honors experiential requirement. This course can be taken for up to 3 credit hours with permission from Engineering Co-op Program director.
