Lead a team of civil engineers and engineering specialists in the Bureau of Aeronautics as an Airport Engineering Supervisor (Civil Engineer Transportation Supervisor)!

This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

The WisDOT Division of Transportation Investment Management (DTIM) conducts long-range, multimodal transportation planning; guides the use of state and federal transportation dollars based upon research and data analysis of the state’s transportation systems; manages the project selection process for the state highway rehabilitation and the major highway programs; and administers various local transportation, transit, airport, rail, harbor and other specialized aids programs. The Division of Transportation Investment Management includes the Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA), Bureau of Planning and Economic Development (BPED), the Bureau of State Highway Programs (BSHP), and the Bureau of Transit, Local Roads, Railroads and Harbors (BTLRRH).

The Bureau of Aeronautics is one whole mode of transportation unto itself. The Bureau of Aeronautics works to help airports and pilots with all things aviation related, from airport development (such as runways, terminal buildings, real estate services, and even snow removal equipment), to federal and state funding administration, pilot refresher seminars, and aviation education, just to name a few. This position resides in the Airport Engineering Section which initiates and executes planning, design, construction and equipment acquisition projects for the state’s 90+ airports.

This position provides team leadership and supervision to a team of civil engineers and engineering specialists within the Airport Engineering Section, in the general support of project management production. This position will provide expert guidance and supervision in the areas of project planning, design, and construction, including Engineering Section consistency in document preparation and project timeline delivery for projects at airports within the state airport system plan. Oversee/supervise a full scope of technical airport engineering services, including but not limited to: plan and specification review, eligibility determinations, project milestone tracking, project budgeting assistance, engineering services, and project inspections.

This position will develop/manage a consultant specialist program contract to identify tasks for consultants, train consultants in work expectations and procedures, provide feedback to consultant specialists, and coordinate consultant tasks with Engineering Section staff. Also, complete other assigned duties as assigned by the Engineering Section Chief, including temporary project management of assigned airports, research and implementation of procedures for efficiency in project management, and file/record management.

This position is in schedule-range (81-30) with an annual salary of $115,689.60-$122,033.60, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

• A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.
