What Is G.R.I.P.?
Before you step into the Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair or the Civil Engineering Career Expo, take advantage of G.R.I.P., our two-day event designed to sharpen your resume and interview skills with real-world feedback from industry professionals.
G.R.I.P. happens twice per year (usually in early September and late January/early February), a few weeks before our career fairs. Employers volunteer to review resumes and help with interview practice and students sign up to gain invaluable experience that will help them stand out to recruiters.
Why Attend G.R.I.P.?
- Get expert feedback from industry professionals.
- Build confidence in your resume and interview skills.
- Prepare effectively for career fairs and job applications.

Whether you’re a freshman looking to prepare early or a senior getting ready for full-time job applications, G.R.I.P. is for you!
How G.R.I.P. Works
G.R.I.P. Day 1 – Resume Reviews
- Students book a 20-minute session with an industry professional for a resume review and feedback.
- You must have a completed resume (this is NOT a Resume Studio session to build one from scratch – come to one of our Career Fair Prep Resume Studio sessions, stop in to see the Career Peers, or make an appointment with Zach or Betsy to build a resume prior to G.R.I.P.).
- Bring a printed copy of your resume (preferred) or have it ready on a laptop or tablet for review.
G.R.I.P. Day 2 – Interview Practice
- Students book a 45-minute session. This is NOT a mock interview! Day 2 is a fast-paced speed-networking (or speed-dating) style interview practice event.
- Students rotate through different industry professionals, spending 5-7 minutes at each table practicing different types of interview questions.
- It’s a low-pressure, welcoming atmosphere where students of all levels can hone their skills and receive real-time feedback.
Students: How To Sign Up
- Sign up online for one or both days! Scheduling an appointment on both days is recommended but not required.
- Be sure to select an appointment time slot that allows you plenty of time to arrive before the appointment begins. (Arriving at 10:00 AM for a 10:00 AM appointment could mean you miss some of your appointment time. Please arrive early for your appointment – example: arrive at 9:50 or 9:55 for a 10:00 AM appointment.)
- Please feel free to bring business cards and to wear your company branded attire.
- Get ready to share your expertise with our students!
- G.R.I.P. is held as an in-person event in the Engineering Career and Co-op Center. In the case of inclement weather that would cause UK to close for the day, this event still moves forward as a virtual event!
Employers: How To Sign Up To Volunteer
